Our Foundational Agreements

Every space V Woods curates, regardless of event, location, or container, is held by these three commitments.

Safety

I understand that physical, psychological, and emotional safety is co-created, through conscious decisions, curiosity, and accountability. Safety breeches can be repaired in real time. These repair attempts are often transformative but not always available and not always successful.

Love

I understand that love is an unlimited resource and that my expression of it has been shaped by trauma, family dynamics, and generational oppression. I commit to holding my own love story with tenderness and accountability. I am not responsible for holding anyone else's story unless we have explicitly consented to shared emotional labor and support.

Belonging

I understand that withholding and rationing belonging is a weapon of oppression. Belonging in its truest form is ancestral, intra and extra-planetary and expansive: I belong to rivers, to soil, to the ocean herself. I accept that the containers of belonging offered by capitalism, job title, class, even the sacred bonds of partnership and parenthood, reduced and compressed, are but whispers of the belonging available to us in this great wide world. I commit to not depriving myself or others of the belonging they seek. I agree to hold my own and others' missteps in belonging with empathy and the love labor of compassion, as it is available to me.
